Learning To Ride Our Bikes

And then how we learned to ride our old bikes.

Not like today, I mean well nobody had a pushbike, nobody ever thought of, well that was the world if anybody owned a bike!

All we used to do was go down the tip like, get an old frame. So long as we had a frame, two wheels, no tyres or nothing, attached a pair of handlebars like y'know. Tie a rope on the front. Half a dozen of us pulling and one sat on it, oh we had the time of out lives. It's a wonder we hadn't got killed. Clattering, they used to make a row.

I remember once we was up and down the street and Uncle Jack, he only lived across the road see, he was on nights, he come tearing out, That was the finish of our pushbikes, he stamped on 'em and he jumped on 'em and chucked 'em over the backs.

Oh dear, poor old Uncle Jack.
